: Alison is a Greenland National Championship competitor who teaches

: I don't see the point in spending the trouble to build a rec boat.
: Costco and Dick's Sporting goods sell them cheaper than you
: could build one. There aren't many boats that perform as well as
: a Sea Ranger at any price, though. Maybe I'm missing something,
: which is very likely since I've never paddled a rec boat. Is
: performance an issue with a rec boat? Aren't they mostly for
: floating? I'm sure that a rec boat would be really stable the
: first 5 times you paddled one, but a Sea Ranger would likely
: only be tippy the first 5 times you paddled it.

Many paddlers seem to assume that a female paddler is most likely a beginner. I've had a heck of a time keeping up with several that I know, anymore it's a risky assumption :)

I really enjoy my Disko Bay, but it's Rob's strip version and love my Sea Ranger too. The Sea Ranger is a bit faster, much less rocker and being SOF is alot lighter, even with it's glass cover.
