Why not hold off for a bit? That book has been around for more than a decade and if it was loaded with errors it should have come out by now.
Some authors have web sites where they publish "errata" (corrections) for their works.
As far as I know if plans are published in a book the copyright does not restrict those that build from the book. The author accepts he will make his money from selling books and won't get anything additional from those that use the plans in the book.

: I am starting a Wee Lassie II, the plans coming from the drawings
: in the book "featherweight BOATBUILDING" BY "Mac
: McCarthy", Sheridan Books, Ann Arbor, MI, 1996. When I
: lofted out the plans in Autosketch, I found a LOT of errors.
: When I laid out the stations on the strongback I found more
: errors. I cannot help but believe that some or most of these
: errors must have been intentional to reduce copywrite
: infringement. Do I publish the corrections on a forum like this?
