I guess you've got it sussed but.
Sure is a crushing possibility for us insensitive types.
I use a "truckers knot" and normal rope.Far quicker in doing up and undoing with brain disengaged [as usual].Make a half hitch loop somewhere close to the fixing point.Thread the rope end through the intended fixing point and then pass the rope end back up and through the loop.Pull the end tight and tie of with a half hitch, looped, so you can just pull to release.I do a second half hitch because I know that any nasty passers bye can easily sabotage your peace of mind.I also have a routine that when this fixed length of rope doesn't end up where it always has I imediately know I have done something dumb...Nothing worse than no peace of mind in this area.
