: Very nice Oliver,
: I noticed the Petrella, far one, seems to have the smaller cockpit
: coming lip in two distinct planes,or am I seeing it wrong?.This
: may have an entry /exit advantage but does it have any
: disadvantage? The spray skirt fit around the angle?
: cheers, any way, from Paul .NZ.

That's Dennis' boat and an ocean cockpit. He paddles with a greenland paddle and an akuillisak or occasionally a tuilik. If I recall, he (and Joy, who built a boat with these modifications earlier, see http://www.kayakforum.com/cgi-bin/Building/index.cgi/md/read/id/208448/sbj/strip-launching-the-petrella/ ) lowered the rear deck and built in couple of modest "bump outs" to afford more knee room. They seem to slip in and out easily but, then again, they have alot more flexibility than I do!
Perhaps they'll comment to add to or correct anything I've written here.
