: Curious if anyone has ever used cork-rubber gasket material for
: hatch seals?
: You can get sheets/rolls of the stuff at most any auto part store
: in varying thicknesses and sizes. Used for things like valve
: cover or oil pan gaskets.

: I know people like to use the closed cell weather stripping for
: this purpose..
: I didn't mold in a channel like I should have when building the
: lip. I guess I didn't thoroughly do my homework on that one :(
: I'm having a fair bit of trouble making the curve around the
: corners of my hatch cutouts smoothly with that stuff and it
: doesn't stick very well...
: Was thinking maybe a cork-rubber sheet that I could cut out a
: continuous ring to fit the hatch lip might be a thought?

The cork rubber material isn't all that abrasion resistant, and the gasket gets abraded all the time loading things into and out of the hatches. There are lots of plain rubber gasket materials though on the market and they'd work fine, wouldn't be terribly cheap though.
