Launching: SUP wet test *PIC*

Overall the wet test was a success. These are my impressions but realize I am an absolute amateur on an SUP (Malcolm feel free to comment on any of my observations). The first obvious thing was when I strapped a Rogue SUP on top of the strip SUP. The Rogue had significantly more rocker and volume in the front end. This was not a concern as I designed this board for flat water. The Rogue also went more narrow from the center of the board back to the stern. This would cost some stability and add some speed and responsiveness. On the water test was next. For a kayaker the displacement hull on the strip board felt much more stable and predictable, a surfer would probably say the same about the Rogue board. It was plenty stable even for a beginner, you could take some width from the rear and make a more efficient board if you are an intermediate paddler. I was still very happy with it because the strip build felt more efficient and faster I think the V hull made a huge difference in this category. Small waves did come over the front so if this a concern you would want to add 2-3 inches of volume on the front (deck only the hull is great) maybe tapering to about a 1 inch step down in the area where you stand. The board seemed plenty strong in every way. The difference in tracking was very noticeable, just a mild j stroke kept it on course yet it seemed it turned as easy as the Rogue which seems like a contradiction to me. Less rocker, longer length, and the v hull I think all contributed to the tracking. Paddlers ranged in size from my daughter who needs to hold on in winds above 20 mph to not blow away and my son who could wrestle bears and probably win. Experience ranged from first timers to experienced. The age span was 47 years from youngest to oldest. The deck is slick until I varnish it and add a clear traction spray so wate shoes were a must.
