I agree with Dan. Magnets are a cool, wow factor, but have to be done perfectly to get a tight watertight fit. All my boats have internal bungies with a double gasket seal, flush to deck. Lip is lowered to accomodate gasket so that hatch cover sits flush. Bungies give quite a bit of downward force as evident of compression of gaskets that need to be replaced each year.
