: My nephews new kayak.

We've actually got the gunwales and keelson epoxied on now and here Peter is rounding over the chines before we install them. I did notice that there is about a quarter to half inch bow in the keelson around station four - five. I don't think it will be a problem since the plan is to install a thin narrow keel to protect the fabric. We had to cut a new keelson out of a 16' 2"x6" because the original had several knots and scarfing them out would have left it too short. I figure I could trim down the scrap from the keelson to make the keel.

We opted for a "quick and dirty" fastener method for attaching the stringers. We epoxy them and then use my 18 gauge brad nailer with stainless steel brad nails to secure them. Three or four brad nails at different angles seem to hold pretty well, even without clamps.
