: The Sea Pup is for youth and small adults. You could scale it in
: length and width, but I would be conservative on how much. Small
: changes are fine, big changes can have bigger consequences. At
: the ages of my kids, I plan on building new kayaks every few
: years, but they started at age 2. Check to see if there is a max
: weight on the Sea Pup and compare it to the Sea Bee. As far as
: the skin touching the frames in between the stringers, you can
: always add shorter "in between" stringers at the wide
: spans.

The decision is in!

We decided to take Marc's advice and build the Sea Bee multi-chine and narrow the beam from 24" to 22" (Peter is doing the recalc right now). With a displacement of 250 lbs on the 24" we should keep enough displacement to keep him in it for a while.

I bought two 16' 1"x6" spruce boards that were fairly clear. I had just enough but I might need to scarf out a couple knots in the deck stringers (never buy lumber when the temp is over 100).

We've got the wood and epoxy so now it's time to get started (as soon as Peter finishes the calculations - homeschooling gets me out of a lot of tedious work...).

Thanks for all the input, it helped.
