: I was really tempted to get some when I got the emial from wood
: surdf board supply but I have enough wood for a few kayaks right
: now that I need to work through. Now that I have seen your
: report it has motivated me to start building faster. It sound
: slike it may be a lot like bass wood but a bit lighter.

I just weighed a 1 1/8 x 6 x 83 (560.25 ci) piece of paulownia and got exactly 5 pounds. A 1 11/16 x 6 x 48 (486 ci) of Port Orford Cedar, well dried, weighed 7.4 pounds. If my math is right then I get .00892459 pounds/ci for paulownia and .01522634 pounds/ci for the cedar, giving a difference of 58.6% in weight per cubic inch between the two.
