: Just wondering if anyone has gone to Glacier Bay in Alaska We are
: going soon , walking on the ferry in Bellingham and going up the
: inside passage. Can you fish? How are the bears and camping
: spots we will be headed to the west arm. Just thought it would
: be worth an ask for some intell. Thanks Joe

We were there a couple of years ago on a cruise ship but went hiking at every stop. To camp in Alaska you better know what you are doing when it comes to bears. They are always hungry and can smell chewing gum still in the package a mile away. If they smell food in your vehicle they can dig their claws behind the window frame on the doors and bend it down breaking the glass in the process and be in faster than you can with your key. Read as much as you can R/T bear safety. We always carried bear pepper spray and kept a small radio on while hiking. The only radio station we could get was Rush Limbaugh but he seemed to keep them away. You need a license to fish and for a non resident it's expensive. I carried a collapsible fishing pole in my backpack and got a few casts in when we were out hiking. Alaska is a beautiful place, you will love it.
