Dave is right on there. Sinking the stern a bit will help a lot with weathercocking. Actually I'm paddling Duane's design now - the Point Bennett (as seen in the picture) - that I build last spring. I've gone skegless and other than the few occasions with strong beam winds and strong following seas, I've been doing fine. Duane's design responds well to edging and the hard chines make it easy to maintain the edge to help overcome the effects of weathercocking. I may start experimenting with weight distribution as well.
