I skinned my girls' first kayaks with the clear vinyl. On the second I even made the cockpit floor out of a clear piece of Lexan (see pic). They did enjoy seeing everything in the water but we had to be very careful with them. One developed a small tear without us knowing it and started to turn into a U-boat. Oh yeah, be especially careful in the winter. The vinyl gets very brittle. The cold crack temp is quite high. We accidentally put a XC ski through the side of one.

It's definitely not a long term skin.
