: My hull is almost done. I have the two finish pieces to put in. The

: getting good cutting and fitting the others end to end. I did
: them all with no scarf joints. :)
: Also need some ideas on how to fix up my stripping short comings. I
: have a few seems that are not as tight as they should be.
: Another one where the top portion of the pointed end split off
: and disappeared. I have a little “V” shaped chisel used for
: carving. I think I can cut a “V” groove and then glue a
: piece of wood back in. This should fix up most. But that pointed

Hi Mike,
I use two pairs of "hobby" glasses together. This helps enormously for perfecting those strip joins.A refusal to accept poor work is my problem....
For Pointers for those last strips.
I cut a suitable strip and draw a pencil line on it where to make the first angle cut.I am always suprised at how close this line is to the requirement but some adjustment ,shaving, to perfection will be needed.I leave this end engaged and fix the new strip occasionally to it's next if kin with tape to develop the true length.I then ,near the new end ,mark a strip positioning line across the new strip onto the next of kin strip and also mark the angle to cut to for the second end. Then I dissengage the first end and trim the new end to approach but ,obviously not under cut the new end pencil line. Then I fit and perfect that new angle whilst observing how the positioning line progresses towards it's final position.
The shortcomings are only going to be visual as it is just a core your building, later to be sandwiched within glass strands .The Ocean won't notice your minor strip joint imperfections...
cheers from Paul.Nz
