Sorry John, I misspoke, I use the 3/4" X 1/8" epoxy coated, there are no 1/16" ones.

To avoid the problem of blowing through my 3/16" strips on my hatch covers I pad out
the hatch cover edge with a 3/16" ring of cedar. Then I never have to worry about
drilling through the hatch cover. This means, I have to add the same thickness to recess
my deck lip also.
