The problems and expense of getting and keeping temps up is the reason I resort to the heat gun. It is about the only way to get a clear wetout in a workshop that is not getting up to the necessary temps, which even in summer here is almost impossible.

You can see from the photo that I got pretty good wetout using the described method with six ounce on my last project.
