You might consider Interlux Brightsides, it's a single part polyurethane that cleans up with mineral spirits like the clear poly varnishes that are commonly used so it should be fairly compatible. This paint also covers in one coat and flows fairly well for hand work like lettering and graphics. Expensive but good stuff and a few colors come in small cans at marine supply stores. We used it for the entire skin and graphic on our Chuckanut SOF. http://flic.kr/p/adpUPX
