I can see this being a problem if you were using the polyester strictly as an adhesive to hold something like a footbrace in place - the stress on a footbrace is incredible. But in the case of the fitting, it really only acts as a filler. There's no lateral movement or stress on the poly "blob" - other than trying to be pulled through the deck. Also, I sanded the epoxy - which was the first fill coat on the glass so it was already pretty rough. I couldn't even chisel the poly of the resin after it cured. I feel pretty good about this holding up.
