Hi Everyone,

I just finished this Disco Bay SOF. It is the Dave Gentry version of the original. I tried a few things different on this one. First I built a glass/carbon floor board and cheek plates. That is the strip builder coming out in me! I used a stacked ply coaming and covered the coaming with glass then painted it black. The stringers are cypress, plenty of that down here. The skin is 8oz poly with stain coloring in the first coat of urethane. Then about 4 more coats of Parks Urethane. Cheep price but works great!

The Disco Bay is a Great kayak to paddle. This one tracks strongly but as easy to turn with a lean. The deep V fore and aft add to the tracking and also seem to help in the rougher water.

I would like to thank Dave Gentry for this contribution. His work made it so easy to build a TRUE West Greenland Kayak. The original designer, I don't know, but he sure as heck knew Kayaks :)
