: I am very close to launching a cedar strip, after 400 plus hours,
: and there seems to be a lot of conflict as to not putting the

: concerns, precautions, advice as to how to clean or wash would

When salt water dries on your boat salt crystals will remain on the surface which
will be abrasive to the finish where straps, saddles, or any surface to surface contact is involved.
Varnish will break down faster unless you rinse off the boat with fresh water.

Salt is hydrophilic which means it will hold moisture and even
pull water out of the air. This will speed corrosion of metal parts.

Seats and other parts on the boat interior that act as collection points
for salt can be a problem.

Just rinse the outside and inside of your boat with fresh water after each
saltwater use.

Oh, and you may find your kayak feels less stable in salt water. It's not
an illusion. Salt water is denser than fresh water, so your kayak will float higher.

So much for displacement numbers!
