Take the kayaks, you'll be fine, don't worry about it. If it's too heavy with gear in it, you can double up and have one person carry the bow and the other carry the stern. If the strainers have been there a while there is sure to be a portage trail by now. The worst you'll get are scratches, but you're going to get them anyway. If it bugs you, when you get back just get out the varnish and revarnish and they'll disappear.

DO NOT EVER ATTEMPT TO PADDLE OVER A STRAINER. EVER.
