: Hi Tom,

: I love redwood for building, but it's gotten grossly expensive here
: if I can find it at all. At one time it was easy to get and
: relatively inexpensive.

Redwood is used a lot here for decks, so perhaps that's why there is so much of it locally at lumber yards,
specialty wood shops, and of all places .. Lowe's. Clear WRC, on the other hand, isn't as readily available, and costs lots more.

Redwood has a tremendous range of colors, from white, to tan, to red, and anything in between, with lots of variation
within a single board like seen on my woodstrip Sea Bee. Some say that redwood is brittle, but I've only seen that in
a few of the dark heartwood boards that I rarely use.

Since I can get clear redwood S4S at Lowe's, it's pretty much a no brainer for woodstrip or SOF.

Tom

Redwood that looks like pine on a Sea Bee single-chine.
