Material: coaming rings

This is a topic that comes up frequently, so of course, I can't find it in the archives...

My current build is primairly dark (chocolate) WRC, with a few white (poplar) accents and a center strip of African Mahogony.

In the past, I've gone with the layered FG/carbon fiber cloth ala' Vaclav and a few others, but decided to go with bent wood for the
coming this time around, for a change of pace, and to allow the strips to show in the riser, in and outside. I built a ring first of dark WRC -
but found it brittle, and didn't care for 'the look'. So I built another one - using African mahogony. It appears 'too light' in contrast to the
darker WRC.

So I'm looking for 'Plan C' at this point. I'd post a pic of what I've got, but..... Santa didn't replace the digital camera that just went on the blink.
This crowd usually handles the mental pics well; what'cha think?
