I assume you mean decimal imperial rather than metric. I use a spreadsheet in the same way; I usually round off to the nearest 1/32th although the lines for a lot of boat designs are rounded to 1/16th or even 1/8th.

I must admit I tend to get a bit anal about precision; I feed boat lines into FreeShip to get more precision if I need it, but you don’t since you have a build-to design. Let’s face it, there’s no point in being more precise than one’s tools and skill can deliver!

I don’t think the feet-inches-fractions format is supported by any of the current spreadsheet applications but you can use 3 columns and the @Mod, @Quotient and @Round functions to get what you want.

Once the mold is put together you will find that you will need to make slight adjustments to get a fair shape. This is quite normal and not necessarily a sign that you have made a poor measurement or cut, unless it is a large amount. Symmetry and fairness are what counts most.
