: I've been using vinyl disposables because for me they're easier to
: get on and off and are more comfortable than latex.

: Recently I read this in Mac McCarthy's book Featherweight
: Boatbuilding......."Be wary of cheap throw-away gloves; I
: prefer the ones recommended by my epoxy supplier. These are
: latex gloves, which are about 30 percent more resistant to
: chemical penetration and are far superior to vinyl."

: I didn't heed his warning and used up the box of vinyl. Have
: wondered it there is any proof of the "30 per cent"
: claim.
: Anybody know? It's hard to believe any chemical is getting through
: the ones I'm using.

Some chemicals, acetone for one, go right thru disposable gloves, just like there weren't there. That said, I also like Dan use nitrile gloves, they are the most chemically resistant disposable gloves you can get.
