Strip: scuppered outwales on Coot?

I'm ready to install the outwales and would like to add scuppers. I'd like to attach a rope bumper by lacing it to the outer edge of the outwale and the openings would allow that (w/o epoxying the rope on as I had to do in a skiff I built). I know that scuppers are supposed to be on the INSIDE to aid in dumping all the water out. However, after looking at many pictures of wood boats with inwale scuppers I realized that it's not obvious that they ARE on the INSIDE. How ridiculous do you think they'll look on the outside? Also, would any scuppers at all look dorky in an 8' pram?

BTW, I HAVE decided to add a sail rig to the Coot (Nicks 8' pram design). The mast is at frame 2 and the center of the 11" DB is at 4 (~24"). I'm investigating sail types to build that are versatile and changeable enough to solve any handling problems I may have with my mast & DB placement. Wish me luck.
Any suggestions? (see earlier post)
Thanks, Harry
