Hi Risto, I didn't actually understand what you meant in your first post regarding limiters. i have since had a good think about it and think that it would definitely be worth trying on an unbalanced rudder before commiting to the expense and/or hassle of replacing/constructing a new rudder.
limiters could be added at the yoke. I was playing around with my setup the other day and noticed that the rudder would not travel as far to the left. I started playing aroound with the rudder line but couldn't fix the problem. I then noticed that the tie off knot on the left side of the yoke was much larger than the right hand side and that it was hitting the cable sheath when applied. Effectively acting as a limiter on one side.

As you have mentioned, too much rudder is a bad thing. A stalled boat in a race not only means you have lost valuable time but in rouger conditions it generally means that your cockpit has filled or even been swamped. Even kore time lost and energy expended getiing up to speed again.

In my particular situation, I need to make my own rudder anyway as the shaft needs to be much longer for the modified pax hull. So I have balanced it. thanks for input, another small piece of knowledge to be filed away upstairs for later use.

cheers
