: I'm ready to attach the outwales to the Wee Lassie. The inwales are
: already epoxied in. I've seen outwales attached with screws and
: covered with plugs and I like the traditional look but is there
: any real advantage over just attaching them with epoxy using
: clamps? I imagine even the screwed on ones are also epoxied
: which would negate removal anyway. Are any of the gunwales on
: wood canoes removable for repair or refinishing?

For a small solo canoe like the WL, I would epoxy them on. It's easier and you'll save a bit of weight (ie metal is HEAVY). On the larger two-person canoes it's better to screw-on the gunwales. They take a lot more load than on a solo boat like the WL where you sit on the floor. They can also be replaceable when only screwed on. Forget out trying to replace gunwales that are glued on.
