I find that, with hand sanding, the weight you loose through persperation can offset the enevitable extra accumulation of mass,through "extras" on the boat.I have an ROS ,however, I really enjoy the fairing process using a fairing board.I loose 2-3 kg over a boat build's duration.I seem to just put this mass on the boat instead.
I guess it's about lugging the boat to the water in which case "less" body weight is not sensed.
