I call myself an incomplete idiot since I'm sure I have many more mistakes yet to accomplish. To assume I'm a complete idiot at this stage would be presumptious.

I'm building a Yost Sea Flea for a friend's daughter. I had to extend the gunwales to get 12 feet. I'd had simple scarf joints open up on the first one I built, so I scarfed and braced these. Naturally, the brace goes to the inside of the boat. After a couple hours of fitting, cutting, and lashing, the stern was looking pretty good. I took a picture with my cell phone. Wait a minute, weren't those braces supposed to be on the INSIDE? Oh poo...

I didn't want to start over with new gunwhales, so I put longer braces on the inside, doweled and glued and left till the next night. Then I chiseled off the original braces, and with our friend the low angle plane, cleaned it up.

Unless you're familiar with the body of my work, the end result does not scream 'IDJIT'
