: Thought there might be some interest in the rack I made to store my
: recent Kayak. It is lag bolted to the trusses in my garage and
: is 8' wide and 26" tall and the two pieces are roughly six
: feet apart. I used 1x1x1/8" square tube for the frame with
: 5/8" solid round bar for the bottom bar as well as the
: removable bars on the right side. It theoretically can hold 3
: kayaks on the left and upto four SUP's on the Right side or the
: bars can be removed for a number of combinations. I used
: 3/4" pipe insulation on the bars. It provides motivation to
: build more as it looks kind of sad empty like it is! Travis

I just used the bike racks sold in the discount houses somewhat modified for the extra weight. Drilled out the rivits holding them together and subsituted grade 5 bolts, slightly stronger :)

Have 6 kayaks in the ceiling of my garage and room for one more (wide garage).
