Hi Rod,

I've seen the same thing, often. Also good idea to saturate the end grain of the strips at both transoms with epoxy after it's stripped and before it's glassed. Very often transom boats have the end grains at the transom rot bad. Ideally the strips should end in a rabbit at the transom, but that's usually well beyond the ability of most home builders, the epoxy trick will work too.
