In Response To: Strip: Hatches flattened and lost boat shape (Scott Striegel)

: I have been reading this forum for the past few months since I
: started building my first boat (Endeavor 17) in the middle of
: July. I want to thank everyone for their invaluable information,
: also, I posted my first question just a couple days ago and
: immediately received a ton of response regarding steam bending -
: so thank you.

: Another question/concern came up today. I cut out my hatches last
: week and built the frames for them, I originally bent the pieces
: to shape by getting them wet. Finished the frames and glued them
: to the hatches last night. Today when I took the clamps off and
: tried the completed hatches I realized that they had bent and
: lost quite a bit of the arc that the top of the boat has. I am
: thinking about applying some heat with a heat gun and trying to
: bend back, or even using a strap with the orginal station mold
: form.

Hi Scott,
I'm not sure what you are referring to.
Did you mean the frame around the hatch opening on which you place the seal and on which the hatch rests, or did you mean a frame on the hatch lid itself, which is to help it keep its true curve, which you bent by making it wet?
