Canoe foot brace is somewhat different than the normal for a kayak, it sits lower on the foot, does require a shoe with a sole of some kind. There though are many kayak shoes with soles, so this isn't really a problem unless the boat's really low volume. I'd never thought about it, but I like Bob's idea, I very much like my Wenonah footbrace in my canoe and it's very light weight and pretty rugged, unusual combination.
