It seems like there might be entrapment issues to figure out if you use it. I'm not sure that it would be all that comfy in a kayak, because you push much more during turns, etc. in a kayak. And kayaking shoes aren't as stiff as the shoes you typically wear in a canoe. Still, having the ability to move your feet around and still have contact is nice. I've had padded bulkheads in kayaks before and loved it.
