: Looking to build another boat (it's been awhile). I have been
: looking at S&G options, my limitations are that I want to build
: from scratch and I have very big feet. Two designs I keep
: looking at are the CLC Wood Duck 12 and the Guillemot Ganymede.
: Any information on the performance of these boats would be
: helpful (I can't find much on the Ganymede). On paper I like the
: narrower beam of the Ganymede (25" to the Wood Duck's
: 30") and longer length. I'm guessing that it's faster than
: the Wood Duck. I like the looks of the Wood Duck better and it
: looks like it would be more fun to build and paddle. I'll be
: padding in varied conditions, I'm 6'1" 180, intermediate
: kayak experience. Any insights (especially about Ganymede) or
: suggestions of other boats would be appreciated. Thanks!

Doug,
I helped my daughter build a Ganymede last year and we are both very pleased with the performance. It is remarkably stable, surprisingly fast, and tracks beautifully. I put sealed bulkheads in both ends but would still want to keep this boat in shelter waters. We built the middle of three deck heights offered and it is too small for my 6'4" frame but the highest deck ought to work for you. You can see a construction log with lots of photos of my daughter's boat at http://twofootartist.com/ganymede-construction-notes/
