i was told i might want to widen frame 4 and 5 a bit to

I wouldn't widen any of the frames independently of the others. This will change the shape of the kayak.

I moved the section behind the coaming forward one and a half inches, but adjusted the dimensions slightly so that the shape of the kayak didn't change. My excuses for making this change:
- I have existing spray skirts and covers that I wanted to use and needed a cockpit of that size
- Even on short paddles I always carry some gear behind me - first aid kit, electric pump, spare water and clothing etc. and this puts some weight in the back
- the coaming looks to be back as far as it should go already

I don't know if this is going to work. Just adding the finishing touches before sewing the skin on.
