: So..... I am finishing my second strip build (pictures coming
: shortly), and I have the bug. I am thinking about my next
: project. For grins, I am thinking about building the lightest
: yak I can. The usage would stricly be on an inland lake,
: launching from my dock, never on rocks or a car top. If it
: cracks, I guess I can always fix it and put more 'glass on. I
: like the strip-building process, and I am getting better at it,
: so I do not think SOF is the route I want to take.

: I am leaning towards another stripper, but I am open to
: suggestions. If I go the stripper route, I am thinking about low
: volume, thin cedar strips, very small internal stems, a single
: layer of 3 oz cloth with as little epoxy as possible, a single
: re-enforcing strip of glass at each stem and behind the riser,
: etc.

: I am going to eliminating hatches and build a single very light
: bulkhead. I have been thinking about going all-in and using
: carbon riser/coaming lip. Anybody done a carbon hull and a
: stripped deck? Any other ideas?

: I used KayakFoundry for my first two builds, so if anybody has a
: design suitable for a lightweight build let me know.

To make it really ultralight you could go with a strip hull and a SOF deck, should be able to drop 5 lbs. on the deck easily.
