: I am leaning towards another stripper, but I am open to
: suggestions. If I go the stripper route, I am thinking about low
: volume, thin cedar strips, very small internal stems, a single
: layer of 3 oz cloth with as little epoxy as possible, a single
: re-enforcing strip of glass at each stem and behind the riser,
: etc.

I've used 1/8-inch strips with success. I'd suggest skip the internal stems and use Gilpatrick's stem construction method. Use 3.2 oz. tight weave glass which uses less epoxy. Build your bulkheads from fiberglass instead of wood. Carbon fiber is good.

For designs, pick a low volume sea kayak. I think the Fram Museum 1888 would be pretty sexy. http://www.paddlinglight.com/articles/free-kayak-and-canoe-plans/fram-muesum-1888-west-greenland-kayak-plans/
