Tools: DIY Edge Planes *PIC*

I made these two edge planes because well, we need'em.
I googled and googled and found an old Stanley 95? Hundred bucks. I found the nice edge plane Nick was using on one of his videos, $130.
So....based on the Stanley 30 degrees angle and 12 degrees (ever use a block plane at an angle? Ever use one straight on?)
Easy to make. Follow the link to my Flickr site to see more details and how I use them.

I made one for one direction, then tweaked the design--making it smaller for the second. They use 3/4" chisels--so these will be the most solid plane chisels in your shop.
They adjust with a tap. And the pivot determines how deep you bite into the strip. (The one on the left--red handle chisel, has a handle. It makes guiding more controllable, and it works as a tightening nut.

And because they're ugly, it'll be easy to make ones that look a lot nicer.
