: Hey all,

: I just finished my Sea Bee, but it will probably be a week before I
: can launch it...sigh...

: In the meantime the canal and river route I've been trying out my
: first kayak in you can pretty much walk out of, so I haven't
: worried about float bags yet. In a few weeks we're going to the
: beach, and I want my wife and I to be able to go out in the bay.
: So, I have materials for float bags on the way. My question is
: about size. How big do they need to be. Tom Yost's dimensions
: are 16x48 I believe, but thats actually too big to fit in the
: bow of the Sea Bee. Will I have enough floatation if I keep the
: stern 16x48, and cut the bow bag down to 16x 38? I guess I could
: even make the bow 18x38, or even 20x38 if need be.

: Thoughts?

: -John

Like others mention, make them as big as you can and still have enough room for you to fit comfortably.

Also, carry a pump, as if you do swamp, you will still have some water in the boat to remove... The float bags just reduce that amount a great deal.
