I live and paddle in a hot climate and recently purchased a Mocke racing PFD. It is light, comfortable and has a mesh area suitable for some kit such as a flare, hydration unit or ???. The flotation is achieved by a number of individual foam blocks which makes for a very comfortable fit. http://www.themockes.com/pic_detail.php?pic=148

If you are in the US, you may find that the buoyancy of this vest does not conform to your racing rules
