: I am starting on a stripper (Cape Ann Storm) and will be cutting
: strips next week. I don't see that cutting the scarf is going to
: be a problem. I like the 3 deg bevel and then finishing the
: rolling bevel approach rather than bead & cove. My question
: is... Based on your individual and collective experience do I:

: A - Scarf the whole board and them rip them so that I get full
: length strips right up front?
: B - Rip strips strips and then scarf them together to get full
: length strips before I fit them on the boat?
: OR
: C - Rip strips and then scarf them as I go? ie, fit a strip to the
: front of the boat and then cut the scarf and fit the second
: strip to the rear then glue everything in place?

: What do more experienced builders find the easiest and most
: efficient way to go?

Couple things. Scarfing the whole board before you rip will waste a ton of good wood and you'll then have to rip really long boards, no fun even with help.

Don't necessarily need to scarf any but the sheer strips and if you choose to scarf the individual strips, they can very easily be done a few at a time with very little waste just as you need them.

If you have an 8:1 scarf and start with a thickness scarf in 2" wood for example, you'll waste 16" of good wood, with a 1/4" scarf, you only lose 2".
