Seems to me if you use the clamps at the ends of the joint, you will get a nice hold without the slippage. If I had that problem, I'd be using lengths of wood a bit longer than the joint and clamping the whole shebang together. The two wood pieces would hold it all together quite nicely. If I am wrong, someone outta tell me, I will be slicing my wood for the NH stripper this winter.

On another interesting note, the lab I used to work in is being demolished. It was built 50-yrs ago and the entire front office and lunch area ceilings were done in ancient growth clear cedar. I aim to ask, no...to crawl into the property managers office, grab someone's pant leg and beg to remove all that beautiful wood. I used to sit there 10 years ago when I first started building and just stared at the ceiling trying to figure out how many strippers I could build from that material. I pray I get my chance to get in there. The wood is at least 3/4" thick, it must not be wasted.
