I agree, Nick Schade's braces are elegant but a bit complex. I may build a similar foot brace, substituting a
clam cleat and a single cord for the drilled base/cord loop. Also, a t-track could sub for the rail,
but that would cost a bit more. Foot board would be flat for forward strokes rather than angled.
Foot board might also span the inside width so I could add material to the sides if needed for
bracing. If you do it before me, please post.
