Hi Bill,
I wonder if the polymeriser has an etching effect as well. That would 'cut through' the oxide. I looked at the data sheet for that glue and the polymeriser is benzoyl peroxide. This is a kind of bleach as well.
A WAG. :)

I'm wondering how it would do for gluing a recumbent frame together. Easier than welding the stuff. No heat treatment for the higher grades. (tis wet and windy outside. my excuse)
