Thanks Jim. I didn't use any cove and bead for this project. The deck and bottom are all square edges. The top has some dome to it, but the widest strips I used were 1 wide, so I didn't need to do any beveling to follow that curve. The bottom has some rocker front to back, but is fairly flat side to side, so I was able to use 2.5" wide paulownia in between 3/4" mahogany strips, and again no beveling was required. The rails are the big challenge and I did them first. It required hand beveling of 20 strips on each side to wrap it around the rail. It was the most time consuming part of the project but I got the hang of the rolling bevel after a couple of strips. After this experience, I will definitely try using rolling bevel instead of bead and cove on my next strip kayak.
