The only way to skip glass on a strip built is to edge nail each strip to its predecessor strip. That was a standard method for square or small stock. With glue, the nails could go through two strips, without, the nails need to go through three strips. Each nail would be three to four inches apart, staggered for each strip. The hull often ended up heavier than a traditional caravel (smooth) hull with full frames and definitely heavier than clinker (lapstrake) hulls.
Not practical for a kayak hull.
