I've had success heating the errant strips with my heatgun when the glue has tacked but hasn't fully cured (it'll depend on the glue of course).

When heated, the glue fails completely for me, and it's easy to wiggle some new glue down the joint and let that set in the right place. Once the glue has cured properly (three days - a week) heating it has no effect on it at all, so it pays to catch it early.

Worth a try to avoid jamming a knife down the joint and making it wider than you have to..
