Thanks Allan, I don't have a problem with the appearance of cheater strips, that's fine.
When I built the Storm LT, I used a heat gun for a few of the bends and didn't have any real issues, although some of them were a bit of a challenge to hold down to the forms; the Petrel bow & stern appears to be a bit more severe so I'm just looking at alternatives and reducing the strip width is certainly one of them, thanks. I'm also planning on using thinner strips and bevelled edges rather then the bead & cove this time.
I was watching one of Nicks Youtube videos on cheater strips and fitting some of those long fine curved edges seemed a bit painstaking.
In my occupation, one of my responsibilities is looking after product development and if I need to change a product slightly without detracting from it's design intent to accommodate a simpler manufacturing process then that is what I do, it's really no different to what goes on in this forum all the time.
It's just the nature of this beast & it tends to carry over to my personal way of doing things, it can be a bit of a pain sometimes.

This is why Im asking the question whether the upswept bow & stern serves a design intent or is it visual; can it be reduced to eliminate the cheater strips and just use bent strips (which it can), and if I can reduce the amount of bend in the strips, even better.
If the shape needs to stay for design purposes, then that is what I'll build and probably use the cheater strips.
